Lyrics

Godlike

Freckled face and nervous
He was pitching for his team
He threw a fast and low one
And hit the batter’s knee
The parents rose in worry
The coaches shook their heads
The two boys who were hurting
Stopped the game and hugged instead

I want to be Godlike
In all I say and do
And let your love and kindness shine through
I want to be Godlike
In all I say and do
And treat my fellow neighbor as if they were you

Weathered hands and smiling
She lived among the poor
She could of slept in comfort
But chose the ghetto floor
She fed and clothed the needy
And when her heart grew sad
She bowed her head and said a prayer
For all the gifts she had

I want to be Godlike
In all I say and do
And let your love and kindness shine through
I want to be Godlike
In all I say and do
And treat my fellow neighbor as if they were you

He marched in towns and cities
Preaching peace and liberty
And even though we betrayed him
His “dream” still came to be

I want to be Godlike
In all I say and do
And let your love and kindness shine through
I want to be Godlike
In all I say and do
And treat my fellow neighbor as if they were you
